Myspace Dead and Gone?

Justin Timberlake managed to bring Sexy Back in 2006. His next project of bring Myspace back might be a little more challenging.

Six years ago Myspace was acquired for $580 million. This month Specific Media LLC will make it their space for a mere $35 million. With the popularity of other social networks like Facebook and Twitter, MySpace has become the abandoned carnival of the internet.

Timberlake has bought a minority stake in Myspace and will also have a title. The musician’s involvement might be a major asset as the music component of the site will be a focus point in the rebranding.  In a statement Timberlacke said, “Art is inspired by people and vice versa, so there’s a natural social component to entertainment. I’m excited to help revitalize Myspace by using its social media platform to bring artists and fans together in one community.”

Specific Media CEO Tim Vanderhook says, "We look forward to partnering with someone as talented as Justin Timberlake who will lead the business strategy with his creative ideas and vision for transforming MySpace."

Social Tattoos

My Social Tattoo is the YouTube viral darling of the week with over 1.5 million hits, where a woman immortalises her 152 Facebook friends as a tattoo sleeve. The general consensus is that it is poor madness. PKMAN009 got 97 Likes when he declared the video “the most retarded thing ever” on the comment section on YouTube.

UPDATE: It’s a hoax! Mashable reported that the video was most likely a viral campaign for Pretty Social, a company that sells objects embossed with images of your Facebook friends. The full details of the video will most likely come out in the next few days.

Another strange Facebook tattoo project...

A production company in Estonia invite people to “Join the Craziness.”  “The Craziness” is a documentary where a man undertook to tattoo one letter of Facebook on his wrist for every milestone they reach on the Facebook page. On one thousand likes he had the “F” inked. The next milestone is 10 000 Likes. The final “E” will be etched on his skin when the page 1,000 000 hits. The page was opened in December 2010 and currently sits at 3,131 Likes.

Here’s a few bonus Social Media Tatoos:
